GSM Kits
Our GSM Made Easy kits are a great way to learn how cellular phone networks work and how to perform Machine-to-Machine communications using GSM. Two different kits are available; one with an on-board PIC24F processor, and one that requires a PC or external microcontroller. Both kits feature a SIM340 Quad-band Cellular Radio that supports all 4 of the international cell phone frequencies - unlike many competitors that support only 3. This means you get the best reception anywhere in the World.

Kits include a socket for a SIM card (SIM card not included), and require a DC supply of 7.5 to 12V capable of delivery 500mA continuously, and 2A intermittently.

GSM Controller Kit (PIC Controller) - KIT-GSM-PIC1   $99.95 (1-9)  Add to Cart This version includes an on-board PIC24F series processor and has everything you need to get your project up and running quickly. You can use the digital inputs to monitor switch contacts or digital outputs from other devices. Use the analog inputs to measure and report values like pressure, temperature, flow or other analog signals. Using an external microphone & speaker, the GSM Made Easy can be used like a typical cell phone providing 2-way communications, or to send and receive DTMF tones.

You can also use this kit to send SMS text messages or use GPRS to connect to a web server and log data. It comes with professional grade firmware pre-loaded so that you can have your application running in minutes. Two versions of firmware are provided; one that sends and receives SMS text messages, and one that communicates via GPRS to a web server. An built-in Bootloader allows you to easily reload either application. The included firmware can be easily configured using a PC with NO PROGRAMMING (optional adapter required).

GSM Radio Kit (PC or External Controller) - KIT-GSM-EXT1   $79.95 (1-9)  Add to Cart This version is for those that want to connect the GSM radio to a PC or other type of microcontroller. All of the GSM radio's pins are brought out to connector pads to allow you to easily connect to any type of controller. Using your PC and our FREE GSM Testbed Program you can explore all of the features of the SIM340 radio. This is a great way to learn the nuances of GSM communications. For operation with a PC you'll need a adapter cable to convert the signal levels to either RS-232 (for serial) or USB. We recommend our adpaters listed below. and CBL-TTL-USB.
